Responsive, helpful, and dedicated in ways automation simply can’t be. We’re your team.
Each month, we recognize one of our Most Helpful Humans in Hosting®.
Meet Jeff Betancourt
Jeff Betancourt was born and raised in Rochester, New York, where he currently lives. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Betancourt started his career in tech in the IT department of an aerial imagery and software company. From there, he decided instead to pursue a career project accounting role for his city’s school district (RCSD). His experiences in tech and accounting prepared him to be a perfect fit for his current role at GiveWP, where he is now a Customer Success Advocate for two brands: GiveWP and WP Business Reviews.
Why did you join Liquid Web?
I was excited to join Liquid Web as part of the acquisition when they purchased GiveWP.
What draws you to the hosting industry as a career?
I love that Liquid Web has acquired plugin companies to include some of the best WordPress solutions as part of the corporation—including the hands-down best WordPress donations plugin, GiveWP!
Is there something specific about Liquid Web you just love?
As part of the software arm of Liquid Web, I get to work with some of the most creative and hardworking people in WordPress.
What’s your favorite part about the company culture at Liquid Web?
My favorite part about the Liquid Web company culture is that it is team-oriented. It’s easy to communicate with other employees outside of your team via Slack, Zoom, Google Hangouts, and Twitter.
In your eyes, what’s the difference between Liquid Web and other employers?
Unlike the corporate world that I was part of in the past, with strict formal dress codes and rules, at Liquid Web, you can be yourself and wear your everyday, normal clothes. I feel like this creates a pleasant atmosphere knowing that your employer values your work more than whether or not you wear a tie to look at spreadsheets.
What is the biggest milestone you’ve accomplished?
I began working part-time in 2019, not knowing a lot about WordPress, and have grown into a full-time position where I solve problems for customers and recover countless accounts.
Tell us about an amazing customer experience you have had at Liquid Web.
At GiveWP, our customer experience is very important to us. One of the mindsets our whole team has adopted is to decrease friction. We try to anticipate and solve customers’ issues and needs upon first contact. Taking this approach has led me to many fantastic customer experiences and feedback, including this message I received from a customer this September:
Jeff, you are a rock star! Thank you! This is by far the BEST customer service I have ever received in my life, and I’m on the older end of being a GenXer! I felt respected and informed, and you addressed my concerns and anticipated and solved additional questions. Once again, thank you for your amazing customer service!
What are you known for at Liquid Web? What do people specifically come to you for?
At Liquid Web, we specifically focus on the customer. Within GiveWP, I’m known for fixing customers’ licensing and subscription issues, customer account management, and subscription revenue recovery. (I also frequently play pranks on my office mate, Michelle Frechette, who still forgets to check for tape on her mouse when it isn’t working.)
What is one thing you wish our customers knew about their hosting?
I wish customers knew that Liquid Web can solve many issues through hosting and through the many plugin solutions we offer within StellarWP.
What is your nickname at Liquid Web, and why?
I was once given a Dundee Award for being the best Office Barista! (The trophy is a comedic reference to the television show, The Office.)
Work aside, what are some of your hobbies?
I love exploring the world, whether it’s a weekend getaway to the Adirondack Mountains, or a longer trip to Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and beyond.
What is your favorite TV show?
The Office is my all-time favorite TV show.
What is your favorite app?
I love Capital One. It’s just so well-designed and easy to use. With a background in finance, I can appreciate when a financial app is secure and designed to meet the customers’ needs.
If you could have dinner with one famous person [dead or alive], who would it be?
I think it would be fun to have dinner with Bad Bunny, who is from Puerto Rico—my heritage, culture, and whose music I love!
You can find Jeff on Twitter.
We hope you enjoyed our series, and stay tuned for the next Helpful Human profile.
