Artificial intelligence is no longer just a buzzword. It has become a transformative tool for digital creators using WordPress. The webinar, “AI Crash Course for WordPress Users” with guest speaker Keanan Koppenhaver from Floorboard, dives deep into the innovative ways AI, particularly generative AI, can enhance content creation, from writing text to generating images and coding.
But while this technology can be highly efficient, it’s still best operated with human guidance. This is what the entire webinar focused on, giving tips and best practices on how to use AI in your work. Because as the saying goes, “A sword is only as good as the man who wields it.”
AI in Text Generation
When it comes to writing content, AI tools are revolutionizing how text is generated.
By now, you may already be familiar with ChatGPT. Developed by OpenAI, ChatGPT has taken the world by storm since it was first released in public last November 2022, only taking just 2 months before it reached 100 million users.
AI tools like ChatGPT assist in creating comprehensive blog posts, concise summaries, and structured outlines, facilitating a seamless content creation process. For WordPress users, this means enhanced productivity as AI can quickly generate drafts that writers can refine and personalize.
In the webinar, Keanan demonstrated how effective command prompting can generate outstanding text results. He has also shown specific command prompts that can further refine your writing skills.
AI in Image Generation
The visual aspect of digital content cannot be understated, and AI’s role in image generation is groundbreaking.
Tools such as DALL-E, integrated with ChatGPT, allow the creation of custom images that align perfectly with the textual content.
Keanan highlighted the importance of specificity when prompting your commands, especially in image generation. According to him, you can produce a higher-quality image by providing more context to the command prompt.
In addition to DALL-E integrated with ChatGPT, there are other AI tools available for image generation, such as Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. Even Adobe Photoshop now features its own AI-driven image generation capabilities.
AI in Code Generation
On the technical side, AI is transforming code generation for WordPress developers.
ChatGPT and other Large Language Models (LLMs) can reliably generate structured code because, fundamentally, code is just highly structured text. For instance, ChatGPT can produce code snippets and explanations upon request.
More integrated solutions like GitHub’s Copilot and Cursor enhance this further by embedding AI directly within coding environments. Copilot suggests code based on the extensive data available on GitHub, while Cursor, a sophisticated AI-first code editor, not only generates code but also offers tailored advice by analyzing the specific context of your project.
In the webinar, Keanan demonstrated how Cursor can be used to generate code. During the demonstration, it was shown that this kind of automation speeds up coding time and reduces errors for developers.
Another tool that was presented by Keanan in the webinar was Make Real by TLDraw. It is an infinite collaborative white canvas where you can bring to life the things you’ve sketched out or wireframed on the whiteboard.
The Future is AI
At the end of the day, “AI Crash Course for WordPress Users” highlights the crucial integration of AI in modern web development and content management.
But while AI enhances efficiency and creativity, human insight and intervention are still irreplaceable.
Knowing this, the balance between leveraging cutting-edge technology and maintaining human oversight is vital for success in the digital space.
